"It's no secret that Shannen and I had a complicated relationship, but at its core was someone I deeply respected and admired," Milano shared with Entertainment Weekly in a statement. "She was a talented actress, cherished by many, and the world is diminished without her. My condolences to all who cherished her." Doherty battled breast cancer for nearly a decade. After initially entering remission in 2017 following a diagnosis in 2015, her cancer returned in 2020. In June 2023, the Beverly Hills, 90210 star revealed it had spread to her brain and later to her bones. "On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease," her publicist Leslie Sloane announced in a statement to NBC News. "The devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend was surrounded by loved ones, including her dog, Bowie. The family requests privacy during this time to mourn in peace." Throughout her health challenges, Doherty remained active, including hosting her podcast "Let's Be Clear." The feud between Milano and Doherty resurfaced in a December episode after claims by "Charmed" co-star Holly Marie Combs alleging Milano's involvement in Doherty's departure from the show.
